What this is
PoliticalTests is a free website of political tests and reference pages. You answer plain statements about the economy, the state, society and the world, and see where you stand, which ideologies sit closest to you, and how you compare with friends.
- Political Compass Test: 48 statements, two axes, about 6 minutes.
- Political Values Test: 89 statements, four axes, about 12 minutes.
- 12 Axes Political Test: 12 axes in three lengths, from 36 to 162 statements, with your closest ideologies, parties and historical figures.
- Short quizzes, group maps, and pages on ideologies and historical figures.
Who it is for
Anyone curious about where they stand. Students working out what the words on the news actually mean. Teachers who want a fair, free classroom activity with no student accounts. Group chats that want to settle, or start, a debate. And skeptics who want to check the method before they trust the result.
What makes it different
- 01
More than one test
A two-axis compass, a four-axis values test and a 12-axis test, so you can pick how much detail you want.
- 02
A published method
Every formula, every axis and how profiles are built is written down on the methodology page.
- 03
No account
Take any test and get your full free result without signing up or giving an email address.
- 04
Share cards
Every result comes with a poster image and a link that holds your scores, never your answers.
- 05
Group maps
Put a whole group chat or class on one map and see who sits where, with nicknames only.
- 06
Explained, not judged
Every 12 Axes statement has a neutral explainer with the case for agreeing and for disagreeing.
What we hold ourselves to
- Nonpartisan. We do not support any party, campaign or candidate, and test statements never name them.
- Open. How statements are written and scored is published on the methodology page. The rules we write to are in our editorial standards.
- Respectful of privacy. No account is needed, and individual answers are stored only with explicit consent. See the privacy policy.
- Plain language. Statements should make sense without a political science degree.
How the site is funded
The tests and full free results cost nothing. The site is paid for by display ads on some free pages and by an optional one-time report for the Compass and Values tests. We take no money from any party, campaign, candidate or government. Neither ads nor the report affect how statements are written or how results are scored.
How the content is made
Statements, explainers and profile pages are drafted with AI assistance and reviewed and edited by our editors before they are published. Scoring uses no AI: it is plain arithmetic, written out in full in the methodology.
Feedback
If a statement seems unclear or slanted, or a fact looks wrong, we want to know. Report it on the corrections page, or find the right address on the contact page.
